LIMELIGHT – IPL
How can LIMELIGHT IPL enhance your life?
Photofacials or photorejuvenation using intense pulsed light (IPL) are the latest developments in dermatology. They allow patients to achieve a radiant, even-toned complexion by transforming their skin from being blotchy or sun-damaged. Intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deeply into the skin. The collagen and blood vessels beneath the epidermis contract, which results in reduced redness, age spot lightening, and diminished fine lines.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
IPL Procedure & Recovery
The IPL device emits light waves in a radius that can be adjusted to target hemoglobin (the red blood cell in blood vessels) and melanin (the brown pigment found in freckles or age spots). The light waves travel through the epidermis and are absorbed either by hemoglobin or melanin. This results in the destruction of the vessel wall or fragmentation of melanin. The melanin pigment and tiny vessels are then absorbed by the body of the patient, making them less obvious.
Your treatment will begin with a consultation, then the skin is cleansed with Vivier Hexam Cleanser. Next, we will apply ultrasound gel to the treatment area then the treatment will begin -IPL causes very little discomfort if any. Patients describe the sensation as similar to the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin. If desired, a topical numbing lotion can be applied before treatment. After the treatment we will apply a cool compress, then finishing creams based on your skin type and SPF. We recommend that patients undergo 3-5 photorejuvenation sessions booked every 4 weeks to get the desired results.
Recovery
Your face will appear reddened immediately after the procedure. However, this should disappear within a few hours. You should start to see results within 24 hours. The IPL may leave you with darker areas, but these will disappear over a few days. Each session will reveal a more youthful, smoother, and even-toned complexion.
This non-invasive procedure causes very little pain and patients can return to their normal activities immediately
